The client has increased the visibility and presence of the company in the CBD area with attractive and prominent illuminated signs. We built a strong relationship with the client and the wider team involved, resulting in a successful job and very satisfied client.
Wellington’s Ballance St is in the heart of the central businesses district with office buildings offering good signage opportunities. The client needed four large, illuminated sky signs for the top of a 13-level office block.
Project management
A company that could both manufacture the signs and project manage the process was sought by the client. Our first step was to gain the relevant city council permissions by submitting designs, and installation and traffic management plans. Manufacturing began once approval was granted.
Project management included co-ordinating designers, the production team, scaffolders, traffic management, crane operators, electricians and installers at each stage of the project.
Design, Fabrication and Production
Four illuminated LED high-rise signs measuring 3.8m x 3.8m were designed following the brand guidelines. An innovative design of push-through cut-out letters was used to illuminate the letters at night only, saving on energy usage.
Installation
This was an intricate installation which provided some challenges. It involved crane lifting the large signs into place atop a multi-story building. Because road closures were required, the installation needed to take place in a weekend. The install was also delayed by several weeks for fine weather.
